Guilford CT
Guilford CT - A Must Read if You're Moving to CT
Guilford CT is a small town located along the Rte 95 corridor and hugging the Long Island Sound between Madison, CT and Branford, CT. The population was 22,375 as of the last census in 2010. I think of it as big enough that my son doesn't know everyone at the high school but small enough that I know most of the people at the market, bank and shops I frequent. Located mid-way between Boston and New York, Guilford CT was named one of the top 100 places to live in 2005 by Money Magazine and, as a resident for 15+ years, I could not agree more! The largest employers of residents in our town are Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital. There are even shuttles into Yale for commuters that meet in Branford CT. There are commuters into New York City as well as into Hartford CT and New Haven or New London.
Located along the Rte 95 Corridor, there is easy access to Rte 91 toward Hartford as well as the Merritt Parkway toward Fairfield County and New York. If you prefer to ride, we have a train station in Guilford - the Shoreline East Station - and the major airports to use would be either Bradley International in Hartford (about 45 minutes from Guilford) or TF Green Airport in Providence RI (about 1 hour 15 minutes from Guilford). Tweed New Haven Airport is adding flights every day and the last family reunion I had, several cousins flew there from the mid-West which was super convenient...almost like when I lived 10 minutes from the airport in Warwick, RI! In town, Guilford travel is bordered by Boston Post Road in the south and Rte 80 in the north and both roads run east to west. To travel north and south in town, most use Rte 77 or Long Hill Road.

Guilford Town Green
In Guilford, CT life seems to center around the Guilford Green! If you're looking for something to do, going to The Green is a safe bet to find it. The Guilford Chamber of Commerce maintains an ongoing calendar of events from a Homeschooling event to Valentines Story time in February and includes all the summer events as well, from Taste of the Shoreline to the famous Guilford Craft Fair. There are events listed by the Guilford Park and Recreation Center which include classes for children, adults and seniors - you can even book a party at the Rec Center's large event room where you bring your own food & drinks and get party coordinators who are usually young local high school kids. In the summer the Shoreline Arts Alliance hosts Shakespeare on the Green which, according to the Wall Street Journal, "draws crowds from all over the area with its engaging, entertaining, and educational performances." and is the largest and most popular FREE shoreline event. Music more your thing? You can spread a blanket and pack your dinner while enjoying more FREE summer concerts every summer evening at 6:30. Events continue through the fall, albeit at a much slower pace, and culminate the second Friday after Thanksgiving with The Guilford Tree Lighting. If you're around that day, please stop in to our office at Page Taft ~ Christie's for a snack and and a drink.
In addition to all the special events, the Guilford Green has tons of special little shops, restaurants, the Guilford Free Library and the 3 major area churches - St. George Catholic Church, Christ Episcopal Church and First Congregational Church.
